I&#8217;ve also used my clients&#8217; units. This allows [us to] sign off on deliveries for them. The savvy client is thrilled to do this and save on receiver fees. A commercial address allows an interior designer to schedule deliveries to the unit, and it also means the different pieces of the order have a safe place to be stored until the designer is ready for the final install.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cWith the commercial address, you can easily hire a local delivery company for the final install, a service the client is pleased to pay,\u201d says Frandsen.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Hammad Assan, manager of<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.jiffystorage.com\/\"> <span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Jiffy Self Storage<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> in Toronto, Canada, has seen interior designers rent units at his facility before, and he believes the fact that the facility allows deliveries has something to do with it. \u201cWe can hold single packages for a customer for a per package fee, or in the case of larger or more numerous deliveries, we can rent a unit to the customer and deposit their goods into the unit on their behalf. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">If the item is too large for us to move it, we can arrange for a moving company to make the move for the customer.\u201d Assan says that once a package has been delivered to the storage facility, the storage unit owner is notified about the recent delivery. \u201cWe notify the customer with a text message, a phone call, or an email, whichever is the preference set by the customer when their account was set up.\u201d <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Besides the ability to accept deliveries, Frandsen suggests that designers look for storage facilities with access hours that fit their schedules. For example, some designers may be okay with standard business hours (9 a.m. to 5 p.m.), but others may need extended access hours or even 24-hour access.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cThe 24-hour access is great!\u201d Frandsen says. \u201cIt allows our tradesmen to drop by goods after 5 p.m. [Gated access] is another great feature, knowing everyone who has the code can be tracked.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-10317 size-medium alignleft\" src=\"https:\/\/www.storage.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/02\/Interior-Design-Storage-407x305.jpg\" alt=\"Using Storage for Your Interior Design Business\" width=\"407\" height=\"305\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.storage.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/02\/Interior-Design-Storage-407x305.jpg 407w, https:\/\/www.storage.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/02\/Interior-Design-Storage-400x300.jpg 400w, https:\/\/www.storage.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/02\/Interior-Design-Storage.jpg 1000w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 407px) 100vw, 407px\" \/><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">By reserving a storage unit at a facility with <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.storage.com\/blog\/benefits-of-24-hour-storage\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">24-hour access<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> and gated entry, interior designers can keep track of all inventory movement, which can be especially useful with larger projects. Also, a storage unit with <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.storage.com\/blog\/what-is-drive-up-storage\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">drive-up capabilities<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> makes loading a truck for the final installation smoother and means couches, tables, and other items are less likely to be damaged between the unit and the client&#8217;s home.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Designers should think about<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.storage.com\/climate-controlled\/\"> <span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">climate-controlled storage<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> units when looking for storage as well. Climate-controlled units are kept between 55-85\u00b0F year-round and regulate humidity, which means interior designers can keep their clients&#8217; orders safe from temperature-related damage, as well as <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.storage.com\/blog\/storage-101-protecting-against-mildew-and-mold-in-self-storage\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">mold and mildew<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, which can damage fabrics, wooden items, and more.
