Delaware - Admitted to the Union in 1787, Delaware was the first of the 13 original states to ratify the U.S. Constitution hence its nickname, the First State. Delaware ranks 45th in the U.S. in terms of population. Its median population age is 32.9 years. The most populated cities are Wilmington, Dover and Newark.
